Switches and multiplexers are selectors with variable inputs and outputs. They can be configured manually or via control voltages. For example, different sequences or modulations can rhythmically be sent to a target in time. Similarly, a sound source can be rhythmically routed through various effects. With switch matrices, even routing presets are possible. This could help modular systems crawl out of the one-patch-per-performance corner.
