Make Noise’s Jumbler — Six In, Six Out, Signal Combiner/Distributor With a Whopping 36 Analog VCA’s.
Imagine being able to re-wire parts of your patch instantly, without pulling a single cable. As its name implies — Jumbler by Make Noise is a module made to intentionally tangle things up, reconfiguring your patch on the fly. It's a six-in, six-out analog module designed to shuffle, combine, and redirect your audio and CV signals in creative new ways.
The core idea, part of Make Noise's so called "New Universal Synthesizer System" concept (N.U.S.S.), is 'Jumble' – the ability to instantly re-route signals under voltage control to create variations. Jumbler provides two main controls for this: Rotate determines the order of connections between the six inputs and six outputs, while Radiate dictates how these signals combine. Unlike simpler switches that can create abrupt changes, Jumbler employs an all-analog design featuring a whopping 36 VCAs. This allows for smooth, continuous transitions and the creation of interesting hybrid signals – think morphing control voltages or blending complex waveforms in a pretty seamless manner.
You could use it to mash up control voltages in unexpected ways, mix waveforms from various oscillators into evolving timbres, re-route effects mid-performance without clicks, or create complex gate and clock combinations for shifting rhythms. Some might see parallels to stacking multiple RxMx modules. It's essentially a patchbay manipulator, letting you explore different connection possibilities without pulling cables. Once patched, Jumbler is ready to shuffle things up, the Make Noise way.
Features:
- Six-input, six-output analog signal combiner and distributor
- Voltage-controlled signal routing and combination via Rotate and Radiate parameters
- Functions as a voltage-controlled mixer or continuous crossfading switch
- Smooth transitions enabled by an all-analog design with 36 VCAs
- Suitable for complex CV mixing, waveform blending, effects routing, and gate/clock manipulation
- Allows for feedback and matrix-mixer style patching
