Half Time Modular’s Pathfinder — A four-lane selector for CV and audio
Pathfinder combines a 4-channel multiplexer and demultiplexer in a compact utility module. The multiplexer routes one of four inputs to a single output, while the demultiplexer does the reverse — distributing one input across four outputs. Both sections respond to the same Path control via a dedicated CV input and manual knob, creating synchronized routing where signals can split and recombine based on voltage.
The M channel switches between multiplexer and mixer modes: select one input at a time for sequential switching, or sum all four for a DC-coupled mixer. Each M input is normalled to +5V with individual level controls, so those knobs generate static voltages even with nothing patched.
The D channel handles demultiplexing with LED indicators showing which output is active. Leave the D input unpatched and those outputs become gates that fire when their path is selected — useful for exclusive trigger sequencing or rhythmic pattern generation. The fully analog, DC-coupled design works at audio rate, opening up many uses. Half Time Modular included some patch examples in the manual if you're curious — it can do stereo tricks, stepped waveform generation, route drums to different voices, switch between effects processors, or create quantized VCA-style amplitude control by multing signals across all four M inputs — it's all in there.
This module delivers multiplexing, demultiplexing, mixing, and gate distribution — a whole lot for a module of its size. Half Time Modular has built a routing utility that is fast and offers an interesting way to reshape signal flow without repatching.
