ADDAC Systems - 809S Stereo Chain Router

ADDAC809S is a stereo router that routes one source through two processing chains and changes how they connect, without pulling a cable. Chain A and Chain B can each hold a single module or a whole string of them. From there you pick what happens: bypass both, use A, use B, run A into B, reverse it to B into A, or feed both in parallel and sum them at the output. It handles stereo audio or a pair of CVs, so a "chain" can just as well be two voltage manglers as two effects.

Effects routing is the obvious use. Patch a delay into A and a looper into B, and you no longer have to settle the question of which comes first. Record the delay into the looper, put the delay after it, run one alone, or split the source through both. This is the stereo development of ADDAC's original 809, and stereo suits the idea now that so many Eurorack effects happily take two channels. It makes no sound of its own, but it makes an elaborate patch considerably less annoying to operate.

All six configurations are reachable from the four front-panel buttons — Bypass, Parallel, Order and Dual/Single — each with its own trigger input for switching from elsewhere in the patch. There's also a Scroll CV input, 0 to +5 V divided into six windows of roughly 0.83 V, so a sequencer or stepped voltage can call up a complete signal path directly. That means the routing itself can become part of the sequence, rather than something you decide once when patching. If sequencing the order of your effects is something you've been trying to solve neatly, this is a direct answer to it.
