Blood Cells Audio MUM — Preamp, Clipper and Manual Gate in 4HP
MUM is a compact input stage that handles preamp duties, clipping, and manual gating. The preamp's high input impedance (1MΩ) means it won't steal the low end from contact mics or make them sound harsh, and it handles guitars and modular signals just as well. Gain is switchable between +10dB for hotter sources and +40dB for quieter external gear.
The Pulse button lets you gate signals manually without any click artifacts. Depending on the mode switch, it works as either push-to-talk or push-to-mute — and a dedicated output mirrors your button presses as 5V gates, so you can trigger envelopes or other modules in sync. There's a CV input which turns MUM into a standard VCA when needed. Finally there's a switchable clipping circuit which can add some edge when you want to push things a bit further.
