Aircraft Designs Cascade - Discrete VCA compression for Eurorack
Cascade brings something that's not too common in the world of Eurorack - proper analog compression that sounds as musical as those legendary G-Bus compressors and discrete VCA designs from the '70s and ’80s. Cascade shrinks that idea down to a eurorack module without losing much of what made those original units special.
The entire signal path is discrete, meaning it gives you that characteristic warmth + punch. A great feature that's more common on the software domain than the hardware world is a dry/wet control (much welcome!). This allows for parallel compression and opens up mixing tricks usually reserved for the studio. You can go from transparent leveling that just makes everything sit better, all the way to more aggressive pumping. Cascade also has a sidechain high-pass filter at its disposal to remove the ducking from your bass frequencies, should you want to.
For those who've struggled with wild level swings in live sets or wanted more even polish in their recordings, Cascade offers a great solution. Clean, musical compression, with the harmonic richness you'd expect from discrete VCAs — it works as well on screaming resonance as it does on your final mix. A solid compressor!
