Aircraft Designs Ember — Mid/Side Saturation Done Right.
Ukraine's Aircraft Designs enters the Eurorack scene with Ember - a neatly designed mid/side saturator that brings studio-grade stereo processing to modular systems. Its circuitry delivers remarkably low noise and precise harmonic control.
The module's mid/side matrix splits incoming audio for independent processing. Each channel has dedicated controls for odd and even harmonics, allowing you to shape your sound from subtle warmth to rich coloration. A well-calibrated crossover filter, ranging from 20Hz to 4kHz, enables you to keep your low end intact while saturating higher frequencies.
Ember shines in its practical design choices. The normalled inputs handle both mono and stereo sources, while the balance control enables true parallel processing without phase issues. An LED meter displays levels in dBu, and a bypass switch allows quick comparisons. The input level and saturation gain work together smoothly - turn up the input for subtle harmonics or push the saturation for more aggressive textures.
This saturator works wonders on drum buses, can add depth to synth leads, or process entire mixes with equal finesse. It's refreshing to see a new manufacturer debut with such a focused, well-executed design.
