Erica Synths' Razornator — A Five-Voice Stereo Resonator with Envelope Following and Drive. Tuned Resonance, In Any Key
Razornator is a stereo effect that makes things resonate. It runs your signal through five resonating delay lines, each tuned to a pitch, and they lend it a ringing, pitched character — a bit like the body of an instrument or a room responding to sound. The algorithm comes from Dutch developer 112dB, the same team who collaborated on Erica's Nightverb and Echolocator.
The five resonators are chromatically tuned, which makes the effect sound "musical" rather than clangy. You can line them up as intervals or chords so that the resonance lands in a key you choose. There's also a built-in envelope follower which can read the dynamics of the incoming sound and use them to shift the tuning.
Before the resonators, the signal passes through a gain stage with up to +24dB of boost and a resonant low-pass filter; after them it gets summed, compressed, mixed with the dry signal, EQ’d and sent out via balanced outputs. It can cover everything from subtle harmonic sheen to something far more aggressive. All its twelve parameters save, recall and morph between presets, and everything answers to MIDI — including the resonator tunings, which you can play from a keyboard.
This box is great for adding a resonant, pitched body to anything you feed it, or for harmonic damage that still lands in key.
