Cosmic Debris is a versatile delay and reverb processor, at the heart of which lie 16 interacting delay lines capable of generating both precise rhythmic structures and dense, expansive soundscapes.
With Spray, individual delay taps become expansive reverb textures, whilst Scatter reorganises the internal feedback paths, creating constantly shifting sonic patterns. The timing control is beyond the ordinary: in combination with SLEW, it produces gliding transitions, extreme modulations and controlled dynamic arcs – from subtle movements to massive risers.
An integrated bandpass filter helps to precisely position the sound within the mix or set it in motion via CV.
Blast injects short, high-energy pulses into the delay structure, whilst Send Mode transforms the mix control into a voltage-controlled send/return – ideal for insert applications in modular systems.
Flexible sync options allow operation with an external clock, tap tempo or free-running. The Freeze function lets you freeze sound moments and continue them as endless textures.
The three modes – Blur, Ratio and Warp – further expand the range, from diffuse reverberation spaces and tonal shifts to experimental delay structures. Cosmic Debris thus straddles the line between effect, instrument and sound laboratory.
The original idea came from Nick Donaldson (Infrasonic Audio) and arose from collaboration within the modular community. The concept was subsequently developed and expanded jointly, and optimised for use in a Eurorack context. The result is an excellent module for anyone who loves delays and reverbs and likes to use them in more experimental ways.
