monolith by raw yaw media is a specialized reverb effects module inspired by West Coast synthesis techniques.
monolith can be used as a pure reverb, but shines as a special effects factory with its pitch shifter capabilities and time-domain based FM algorithm that works like a shimmer.
The true stereo reverb effect can also be used with mono input signals, as the left input is normalized to the right input. monolith creates a reverb that can be processed in several ways. There is a DJ-style filter with high-pass and low-pass characteristics and, of course, the pitch-shifting reverb whose pitch can be modulated by external CV or the built-in FM oscillator.
If you limit the frequency modulation to low values, you can get microtonal pitch shifts. With high modulation values, on the other hand, you get shifts over several octaves. If you want to omit quantization altogether, you can simply turn it off. And it's also possible to disable the frequency modulation by a button or CV.
The modulation oscillator is very functional, since you can also synchronize it to external clock signals, continuously change its shape from sine to square and it also follows 1 V/octave!
There is more to be said about monolith, but it is best to hear it for yourself. The concept is more than the sum of its parts. With monolith you get a very interesting tool for sound design that is luckily not a "set-and-forget" reverb, but an effect you want to explore and play with.
