Orbit combines sound and dynamics processors into a powerful oscillator backend/effect unit with well thought-out signal flow and inviting layout.
The basic functions Orbits consist of the following elements:
Bitcrusher with invertible bits
Harmonizer with up to five oscillators
12 dB Multimode filter with LP/HP crossfader
Envelope generator with LFO function
Mixer with Dry/Wet-VCA
Input mixer with VCAs
To get an idea of the potential of Orbit, it is sufficient to feed a VCO with a simple waveform in Orbit and to process it extensively using the function mentioned above. A simple signal quickly turns into a very broad and rich signal. The bitcrusher and harmonizer sections are mainly responsible for this. The filter helps to tame the signal a little bit and with VCA and envelope the dynamic sound event is temporally shaped. If you play the envelope of Orbit and an external VCO patched into Orbit with a sequencer or keyboard, you have a full-fledged synthesizer with a strong character. Orbit can also be used as an effect device and can loop through existing synthesizer voices or entire mixes.
