NANO Modules FUM — Stereo Multi-Effect with Delay, Reverb, Pitch, Modulation, Texture and Filtering
Delay, reverb, pitch shifting, chorus/flanger, Texture and a Color filter: FUM brings six stereo effects together in one Eurorack module, with a layout made for quick, hands-on playing. Pitch, delay Time, Feedback, Modulation and Reverb each have their own fader, while Texture and Color sit on the two large knobs at the top. Most of these controls are bipolar: the centre position is off, and moving in either direction brings in a different side of the effect. Feedback gives you clean repeats one way and increasingly distorted repeats the other, Reverb moves between Hall and gated, Pitch shifts an octave up or down, and Modulation switches between chorus and flanger.
The delay is ping-pong, can lock to an external clock or run from FUM's internal tempo, and reaches roughly ten seconds in its longest range. Changes in delay time glide rather than jump, producing the familiar pitch sweep of a tape machine changing speed. Push the Pitch fader further and the shifted signal starts feeding back into itself, stacking octaves into shimmering layers. Texture adds either a low granular rumble or white noise, rising and falling with the dynamics of what you play. Motion then moves several parameters at once: stepped and random with Sample & Hold on one side, or as a smooth triangle LFO on the other.
Freeze captures the current delay buffer and holds the reverb with it, while the rest of the module stays live so you can continue playing, filtering and modulating over the frozen sound. There are also three alternate modes, set directly from the panel by holding Freeze and turning the relevant knob: Color can filter only the wet signal, Mix can work like an effects send, and Texture can be routed into the effects rather than simply layered on top. In that last mode FUM can even generate material of its own with nothing connected to the audio inputs. Despite the depth, FUM remains a very immediate module — useful for simple stereo processing, but with enough modulation and routing flexibility to keep becoming something else as your patch develops.
