Erica Synths - Zen Delay
- Order number: 190534
The Erica Synths Zen Delay is a desktop stereo delay with sophisticated operation, multiple modes and a powerful tube.
The Zen Delay was developed in collaboration with Erica Synths, Coldcut member and Ninja Tune founder Matt Colton and techno activist Dr. Walker (Liquid Sky Collective). The high-quality desktop housing accommodates a stereo delay that has been equipped with a tube and offers deep control over its six delay variations. These are two tape/tape ping-pong and digital/digital ping-pong variants, each full of character. There is also a crossover variant, a vintage algorithm and the option to send sounds "down the tube" by bypassing the delay circuit. In terms of sound, the device delivers what it promises: in addition to "normal" sounds, pitch-shift echoes and ultra-wound feedback chops are also possible, which can be driven into (distortion) madness, which sounds as delicious, thick and "crunchy" as a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.
Apart from the tap button, there is also a MIDI in and a CTRL in socket for control, so the sound can be manipulated in any desired way. The 24dB filter can be used for delay design in the low/band and highpass modes, while the delay time and cutoff frequency of the filter can be set using the two largest controls on the very user-friendly device interface. Below this, there are equally effective controls for the feedback and dry-wet components, resonance and the intensity of the tube mix. Delay modes and input levels can also be set in a performance-friendly way without a lot of menu bells and whistles. If the King Tubby vibes go too far, you can quickly tame any threatening delay walls by pressing the bypass switch.
A very well-made and extremely authentic-sounding delay that is suitable for studio sessions as well as for performance purposes.
