DB-1 is a fat monophonic synthesizer, with everything you need for acid sounds à la 303! A pulse wave refined with chirping filter resonance, step slides and a nice drive. DB-1 is very intuitive and sequencing patterns has been simplified immensely compared to the original.
But as mentioned earlier, this machine has a lot more under the hood! The sound generation is based on a completely analog circuit and there are individual envelopes for pitch, filter and amplitude. The BBD-based Detune parameter lets you create massive walls of sound that only get more fat with the Drive. The LFOs can be synchronized to the clock and even allow frequency modulation due to their wide range.
Thanks to the resonant filter and noise source, you can easily use DB-1 to create drum sounds, and the detune and sub-oscillator allow you to generate wafting drones.
DB-1 is ideal for live performances, as there is an arpeggiator, quantization and storable patterns. Quick improvisations with randomly generated sequences are nothing to be afraid of!
