Oscar Tria Mk 2 Upgrades Its Three Oscillator Modes With Wave Folding, Adjustable Detune Spread, Wider Chords, New Controls, and a New Mono Summing Option.
Oscar Tria Mk 2 is a compact stereo oscillator that combines three different, complementary oscillator models in one easy-to-use VCO. Designed for big, wide sounds, it covers classic analog waveforms, massive stacked oscillators and a full chord engine. For Mk 2, the analog circuitry has been redesigned with higher-spec components, there's an additional CV input with attenuator and a new front panel knob. And for all of those who are afraid of stereo, fret not — all three modes can now be switched to mono — which sums the stereo outputs and sends the result to both jacks.
The green mode is a stereo adaptation of a classic analog oscillator. Here you have triangle, sawtooth and pulse wave (with PWM) and all forms in between. You can fade between the waveforms, allowing you to find many interesting sound characteristics. The whole thing is thickened up with up to two sub-octaves in the form of square wave oscillations. And since this is a stereo oscillator, you can detune the two sides against each other for a really big sound. Through-zero FM and hard sync are also on board. New in Mk 2 is a wave folder, controllable from a new knob on the front panel or by CV — running it alongside waveform morphing opens up a lot of additional harmonic territory.
In yellow mode, Oscar Tria focuses on the attribute Super! Supersaw sounds with up to 24 oscillators, split between left and right channels, promise excellent rave material. You can also switch to square and triangle — super square and super triangle — which is just as interesting. Add the sub-oscillator if the sound still isn't big enough. Mk 2 adds control over the detune range of the oscillator swarm, with CV to match — so you can go from a tight shimmer to a wide, chaotic spread.
In orange mode you get 20 different chords with adjustable note count. Mk 2 expands the spread from two octaves to up to five, and adds dedicated CV control for both note count and chord selection — a significant upgrade for generative and sequenced patches.
A versatile, compact VCO that covers classic analog tones, massive stacked sounds and full chord voicings — and does all of it super well!
