Mehr Music Machines Deuxd — Dual HP/LP Filters with Built-In Cross-Modulation and FM capabilities.
The Deuxd (pronounced "DUDE") is a dual OTA-style filter from LA-based Mehr Music Machines. It comes with two completely independent VCFs, both switchable between LP/HP, and with their own set of cutoff and resonance controls. The big orange-lit knob in the center controls global cutoff for both filters simultaneously, while the smaller outer frequency/resonance knobs act as offsets. A Sync/Oppose switch determines whether the filters sweep together or in opposite directions when using the main knob in the center.
What makes this module interesting is its internal routing. Audio Input 1 is normalled to Input 2 for easy mono-to-stereo processing, but it's also normalled to the FM input on the opposite side — meaning your incoming signal can modulate the other filter's cutoff without any patching. These audio to FM normalled connections are for pre-filter cutoff-modulation. The X-MOD knob takes this further by feeding each filter's output into the other filter's cutoff, creating feedback paths that range from subtle thickening to screaming metallic textures depending on your resonance settings. Both filters self-oscillate around 10 o'clock, so pinging and drone duties are well within reach as well.
Building on the gritty character of Mehr Music Machines's earlier Poodleface filter, the Deuxd works equally well as a straightforward stereo processor or a x-mod playground. The SUM output adds two flavors of diode clipping (Dirty and Filthy) if you prefer a rougher tonal character.
Deuxd offers a solid choice for stereo filtering, dual-peak bandpass duties, or feedback experiments where two filters feed off each other's energy.
