Alpha Duo Mk 2 Is a Character-Rich Dual VCA With Ring Modulation Which Now Also Features a CV-Controllable Drive.
Alpha Duo Mk 2 is a stereo VCA that goes beyond the basics — combining precise gain control with character-shaping features like overdrive and ring modulation. Based on virtual analog modeling, its three operating modes transform it from a clean dual VCA into a ring modulator or two independent VCA/ring mod processors.
For traditional dynamics, two-quadrant mode delivers clean VCA behaviour. Switch to four-quadrant mode to explore ring modulation's metallic tones, or split the channels in 4S mode for dual mono processing. The DC-coupled signal path makes it equally capable with audio and CV signals.
The drive section offers two flavours: a tube-inspired soft clip for gentle saturation or transistor-style hard clipping for more aggressive distortion. New in Mk 2, the overdrive is now CV-controllable — opening it up to envelopes, LFOs or sequencers for dynamic timbral changes.
Pan control with CV input enables dynamic stereo movement, while the mono/stereo switch adapts to different routing needs. The Mk 2 panel layout has also been redesigned to match Oscar Tria Mk 2 and Foxtrot Duo Mk 2 — patch the three together and you've got a great sounding, flexible synth voice with a tidy layout.
