BlaknBlu’s Doug — Six-Phase Envelope Generator with an LFO Alter Ego
Doug is an envelope generator that can behave like an LFO, and an LFO that can behave like an envelope. It’s a small utility source that takes care of "moving things over time” in your patch.
On the envelope side, Doug uses six stages instead of a basic ADSR. You can delay when it starts, let it rise, then hold at the top before the decay, then fall into sustain and release. Run that once for normal envelopes, or loop it so the whole shape turns into a more complex LFO. Flip Doug fully into LFO mode and you get several waveforms plus S & H and noise, which you can mix together to taste to build anything from smooth sweeps to stepped, random-ish wiggles.
Both the envelopes and LFO can be triggered, gated, and retriggered, and you can even set the LFO to fire just a single cycle per trigger for “weird envelope” duties. At the bottom, you'll find two switchable outputs (unipolar or bipolar). To top it off, there's an optional 2hp expander module that brings out some of its internal options: triangle vs sine shape, log vs linear envelopes, and whether Gate/Trigger restarts from the current level or forces the envelope back to zero first. This little unassuming module has a lot of tricks up its sleeve, so be sure to check the manual for more!
Features:
- Compact 6 HP module combining advanced envelope generator and LFO
- Six-stage envelope for detailed shapes (delay, rise, hold, decay, sustain, release)
- Envelopes can loop for complex cyclic modulation
- LFO mode with multiple mixable waveforms, sample & hold, and noise
- LFO can free-run, retrigger, or run in one-shot mode for “envelope-like” cycles
- Gate and Trigger inputs for classic and “fire once and ignore length” behaviour
- Two outputs, switchable between unipolar 0–10 V and bipolar ±5 V
- Optional 2 HP switch panel and internal options for different curve and reset settings
