2HP’s Blur — Spectral Sound Mangler in an Impossibly Small Form Factor!
Say what?! A full-blown spectral processor in just 2HP? Aptly named Blur, like the band, and like the verb ["make or become unclear or less distinct"] — incredibly, this module manages to cram some serious FFT algorithms into the "oh wait, I have 2HP left?" -slot. Feed it any audio source and it'll stretch, smear, and rearrange it into something completely different. We're talking about turning drum hits into ethereal pads, sine waves into evolving textures, and pretty much anything into sounds you didn't yet know existed.
Part of this magic happens through time-stretching that can freeze moments of audio indefinitely, which is terrific for ambient pads or bizarre reverb tails. It also comes with a vibe control that shifts pitch and timbre in musical (or deliberately unmusical) ways. As to be expected, there's a dry/wet mix to go with that in case you need to head back to reality. No menus, no screens, just immediate hands-on control. Easy-peasy. Every sound source reacts differently to the same settings, which keeps things interesting, hopefully ad infinitum.
Is it precise? No. Predictable? Definitely not. But that's the point. Blur thrives on happy accidents and unexpected results. It's the kind of module that makes you stop mid-patch and go "wait, what just happened?"—in the best possible way. For 2HP, it's an absurd amount of sonic dimension hyper jumping!
