Venus Instruments' Veno Orbit & Dual Looper, Sampler & CV Recorder in One
Veno Orbit is a sampler/looper that allows you to capture what your system is doing right now and turn that into an instrument itself. The basic layout is two channels with four layers per channel. Record a patch, loop it, scrub through it, pitch it around, then crossfade between the layers for different variations — all from a no-menu, one-knob-per-funtion interface. Its two channels mean you can run it as a stereo looper, two independent engines, or one side for audio and the other for CV shenanigans.
You can treat it like a classic looper, like a polyphonic sample player, or like CV memory. Record a riff, then clock-lock it to your master tempo and slice it into neat sections. Or flip it to CV mode and capture pitch sequences, envelopes, and modulation shapes, then play them back as looping sequencers, transposable lines, or slowly evolving modulation sources. With adjustable slew and proper V/Oct tracking, recorded CV behaves like a playable part of your system, not just a “tape” of what happened.
With MIDI plugged in, those loops and layers become a polyphonic sampler: play chords from a single recorded oscillator, or turn one weird field recording into a playable pad machine. Crossfades, envelopes, and reverse help to keep it all musical rather than becoming a glitchy mess → unless you want glitchy! When you land on something you like, you save the whole setup — both channels, all layers — to microSD and recall it later like a preset instrument.
Whenever you're thinking, "Oh, I should save this", Veno Orbit lets you transform those fleeting, unpredictable moments of your patch into a fully playable, recallable instrument — very usable and pretty cool!
