U-he’s Wiretap — Decoding melodies and CV slope changes into gated rhythmic grooves.

After almost four years, u-he's rather unique Wiretap module is finally here to bring new rhythmic possibilities to your rack. This two-channel slope detector and trigger/gate generator listens to any CV source and outputs gates when it detects significant voltage changes.

Wiretap transforms melodies into rhythms by generating triggers when the input CV starts to rise, fall, move or jump. With three gate outputs per channel, there are plenty of ways to interact with your CV signals. The gate time is adjustable, so you can set anything from short pulses to longer gates, independent of the input signal. If nothing is connected to input 2, channel 2 is normalled to input 1 so that all six trigger outputs process input 1.

Unlike traditional slope detectors, which hold gates high during continuous rising or falling states, Wiretap triggers on state changes. This makes it particularly useful for creating rhythmic patterns from melodic sequences or CV sources that lack gate outputs. The two dynamic hold-release envelopes provide additional modulation options, each reacting to the dynamics of the input signal.

There are also some handy features under the hood. Jumpers on the rear allow for a more traditional slope-detector mode or clocked operation. Wiretap also works well as a companion to U-he's previous utility module 'CVilization'. We can't really think of any other slope module that does what the Wiretap does, so it's a pretty unique unit!
