Envelope followers are handy little helpers that use a comparator to convert audio signals into CV. Think of it as turning the amplitude envelope of your guitar into a control voltage of the same shape. Super useful for integrating external instruments into your patch, or for triggering new sounds in response to those already in the system.
The 230t combines three of these functions with pulse generators in one sleek package. The pulse generators can extract gates and triggers from the external signals, controllable via the Sustained and Transient switches. Sensitivity knobs adjust input gain per channel, and the Decay Time can shape how quickly or slowly the generated envelope fades compared to the original.
A great module that fits perfectly into the Buchla range – but also shines in any other system!
