Modbap Modular - Hue

Modbaps Hue is a richly equipped toolbox for putting the finishing touches on your sounds.

Hue is a compact mono effects module, with a total of five character-giving audio processors.

Listed in order of effect chain:

1. Drive
2. Filter (LP/HP)
3. Tape Saturation
4. LoFi
5. Compressor

In the beginning, there is the Drive, which boosts your signal and distorts it very nicely at high settings. The Drive Poti has a double assignment: Drive: increases the Drive value and Shift+Drive sets the Drive tone. After Drive, the filter kicks in. It is equipped with a practical 2-in-1 function pot. This means that in the middle position there is no filtering when turning to the left (CCW) the lowpass filter is used and when turning to the right (CW) the highpass filter is used. This is very useful for performances and invites for " wiggling". Tape Saturation smears your sounds with the warm color of classic cassette tapes, with Shift+Tape setting the intensity. LoFi lets you reduce the bit depth of your sounds, with Shift+LoFi setting the sample rate. Lastly, the compressor (kept very simple with a mini-pot) is on hand to lubricate the last bit of glue between your sounds.

Hue works exceptionally well to give your drums that "certain something". Often, classic analog drum machines were/are refined with expensive outboard gear, giving them their punch and characterful warmth. Hue tries to bring these elaborate editing processes into your Eurorack system in a simple and compact way...and (in our opinion) manages to do it pretty well.
