Making Sound Machines - Farbshaper

Making Sound Machines Farbshaper is a classic West Coast waveshaper for your Eurorack, ready to sculpt your signals.
As part of the new color (filter) palette from MSM, a wide range of differently colored modules are available. Converting a ramp into a sine wave is the backbone of this classic circuit, which was first used in function generators and oscillators and adds one or more wavefolds to other signals. Internally, opposing offsets are generated, which results in a strong interaction of the different parameter settings and, in combination with CV control, adds a ton of fun to your patching experience. No matter if Farbshaper is used in combination with acoustic or electronic instruments; it easily masters the whole palette from gentle sound nuancing to colorful wavefolding.
The top knob is used to control the input gain. Leaving it in the far left position mutes the audio signal, while the far right one loads the full amplitude into the waveshaper. Since the parameters interact strongly, you can twist and shape the signal to your liking using the other knobs.
The Fold control (who would have thought that?) adds a fold to the signal that becomes more pronounced as you turn it right, providing a brighter timbre. The Pleat knob provides a second waveshaping stage with further convolution, which has a highly variable sonic effect depending on the setting of the other knobs. Here, too, turning to the right leads into "harmonic heaven" and thus a rather brighter timbre. Both Fold and Pleat have a CV input and when a CV signal (LFO, Envelope) is connected, the knobs turn into an input attenuator, which contributes to the realization of even more lively sound characteristics. A look at the manual is worthwhile, it offers many good patch instructions for you.
