Lorre Mill - Comb Room
- Order number: 230673
A special device that sits perfectly in the Lorre Mill family: Comb Room is an effects box based on the PT2399 chip.
Lorre Mill builds unique devices that use the reliable banana cables. There are a wide variety of boxes that produce a wide variety of sounds. Comb Room, however, is an effects unit incorporating the characterful PT2339 chip, with delay and comb filter.
The PT2399 chip landed on planet earth in the late 90s. It was cheap, small and had a special sound. Its accessibility made it very popular in the world of musicians and its sound made it the perfect alternative to expensive and elaborate tape delays. Noise, dirt and imperfections give the delays of this chip their charm and make it a popular choice for contemporary devices even today.
The Comb Room combines two delay loops of the PT2399 with a comb filter. You get delays and reverbs as well as exciting feedbacks and resonances.
The Comb Filter lies on the feedback of the delay and lets you add new harmonics and overtones. The resonances of comb filters are often used to recreate strings and wind instruments and allow for a huge sound spectrum.
Your input signal can be driven into soft clipping in the preamp. You get an envelope follower to control various parameters in the device.
Lorre Mill has integrated a feedback limiter so that you don't have to exceed certain limits. But limits can always be bypassed, so you can plug the Comb output into the input to get even heavier feedback.
Dirty, characterful sound with flexible sound shaping options. Comb Room is a unique effects box for synth nerds and guitarists alike.
