Larix Elektro's TRICOMP — Triple Comparator for Triggers, Gates & Waveshaping
The TRICOMP from Larix Elektro is a triple comparator module that transforms any incoming signal into triggers and gates. Three circuits (A, B, C) each compare the input against a threshold set by its own large knob. The upper section generates trigger pulses — a toggle switch per channel lets you choose whether the trigger fires when the signal crosses above the threshold, below it, or both. A summed output combines all three channels. The lower section derives gate signals from the logical combination of all three comparators, giving you four simultaneous outputs representing different states. Feed it an LFO, an oscillator, an envelope, or a random voltage — whatever goes in comes out as rhythmic patterns, complex gate sequences, or, at audio rate, gnarly waveshaping and PWM effects. The inputs for B and C are normaled to A, so a single source can drive all three comparators at different thresholds.
Just like other Larix Elektro modules, the Tricomp is hackable — SMD components on the PCB can be swapped to adjust trigger duration and knob range to suit your needs. Compact, with very low power draw, and expandable via their Mult. or Attv-4 companion modules for CV control over the thresholds, Tricomp is a focused little tool that is able to extract a lot of rhythm and logic from whatever you throw at it.
Features:
- 3 comparator circuits (A, B, C) with individual threshold knobs
- Trigger output per channel with selectable mode (rising, falling, or both)
- Summed trigger output combining all three channels
- 4 gate outputs derived from logical combinations of A, B, C
- Inputs B and C normaled to input A
- Usable for rhythm generation, waveshaping, and complex PWM
- Compatible with Larix Elektro Attv-4 and Mult. expander modules
- DIY-friendly
