The ultimate boss of envelope generators! Klavis' four-fold envelope Quadigy allows for highly precise work with up to 4*7 (!) stages..
Quadigy is equipped with four envelopes that can act independently or in relation to one another. It can function as the central modulation hub of your system or allow very fine control in polyphonic applications.
There are a bunch of features, from presets to morphing and even a CV matrix. We can't discuss everything in this text, but I'll explain a few exciting points here...
Quadigy is a very powerful module that, naturally, requires some learning. There's a very good user manual that explains everything to you.
The module operates in two user modes: Studio and Live. In Studio mode, all, sometimes complicated, functions are available. In Live mode, some functions are hidden or simplified. This allows for two different approaches for different situations!
To understand the module fundamentally, it must be clear that Quadigy's 4 envelopes are edited via the ADSR sliders. However, to keep the module compact, instead of 12 faders, there are only 4, and you switch the envelope being edited using the buttons on the top right. This operation might not be as immediate as others, but it is finely executed and saves a lot of space. A huge aid in dealing with Quadigy is the screen. It always shows precisely what values each parameter has set.
If ADSR isn't enough for you, Quadigy lets you add 3 more stages to the game. These total 7 envelope segments allow you to create highly complex curves that go far beyond normal envelopes.
Quadigy has a deep menu with many great functions, such as Morphing. This function allows you to blend between different envelope presets, and it even works with CV! Another keyword here is Presets. In total, you can save up to 32 different presets in Quadigy and recall them at any time. This can be done through Morphing, as mentioned earlier, but also by jumping between all of them via control voltage or sequentially via trigger (clock). The possibilities are huge and make studio nerds and live performers hearts skip a beat.
Another advanced function is the internal CV matrix. Here, you can assign the two CV inputs and the user knob to any parameters. The integration of the user knob is great for quick adjustments to the sounds. Furthermore, Quadigy allows you to gradually switch the envelope curves between exponential, linear, and logarithmic and loop the resulting wave.
Quadigy is a truly versatile modulation source that allows you to create elaborate envelope curves. Perhaps not your first module, but one that remains and continually delights you.
