Fancyyyyy K-ACCUMULATOR — The 21st Century Take on the Complex Oscillator
The K-ACCUMULATOR is a digital complex oscillator developed by Fancyyyyy in collaboration with Graham Wakefield — the mind behind Max/MSP's gen~ platform. Together, they've folded advanced phase modulation and waveshaping synthesis into hardware in ways we haven't quite heard before.
The oscillator generates sine and cosine signals, outputting both as a stereo pair. An eight-node waveshaping matrix lets you smoothly morph between different synthesis techniques — harmonic wavefolding, frequency shifting, formant synthesis, asymmetric phase modulation, harmonic stretching — with the panel controls adapting their function as you move through. A Universal Function Generator runs at audio rates for pulsar bursts and windowed sync. A Delta-Sigma pattern generator provides pseudo-random sequences. Feed external signals in for pitch-tracking or use non-pitched sources as texture generators.
Yes, that's a mouthful — but how else to put it? This module really packs a lot of amazing things into one.
Despite all that's going on under the hood, the interface stays refreshingly direct. No menus, no shift functions, no hidden modes. Just 23 patch points and immediate hands-on control. Quantization options are also present (Just Intonation and 12-TET), which help when you want to stay tonal, but chaos is equally welcome here :)
We're genuinely excited about this one — it sounds fantastic. Give the demos a listen, they speak for themselves.
