Drone + Noise Synths

Drone and noise synthesizers are perfect for experimental soundscapes and textured tones. They create dense sound layers, harsh noise backdrops, or atmospheric drones that can be endlessly modulated. Drone machines aren’t designed for melodic keyboard play but are built to produce sustained tones, dissonances, and oscillations—the classic drones. Noise often comes from small, simple devices that specialize entirely in atonal, chaotic sounds. In recent years, this category has evolved immensely, offering highly creative devices, each with its own character and quirks.
