Alpha Duo by BlaknBlu — Dual VCA With Character.

A stereo VCA that goes beyond the basics — the Alpha Duo combines precise gain control with character-shaping features like overdrive and ring modulation. Its three operating modes transform it from a clean dual VCA into a ring modulator or even two independent VCA/ringmod processors. Like the Alpha Pro that came before it, the Alpha Duo is based on virtual analog modelling.

The module is great for both subtle and dramatic applications. For traditional dynamics, two-quadrant mode delivers a clean VCA behavior. Switch to four-quadrant mode to explore ring modulation's metallic tones, or split the channels in 4S mode for dual mono processing.

Alpha Duo's drive section can add additional warmth with two options: a tube-inspired soft clip for gentle saturation or transistor-style hard clipping for aggressive distortion. The DC-coupled signal path makes it equally capable with audio and CV signals.

Pan control with CV input enables dynamic stereo movement, while the mono/stereo switch adapts to different routing needs. Alpha Duo brings together precision and character in a thoughtfully designed module.
