Animal Factory Amplification's Dirty Mirror — Dual Fuzz, Chaos, and Utter Shoegaze Destruction
Dirty Mirror is AFA's decade-long love letter to fuzz distortion, finally bringing together two legendary circuits in one twisted package of destruction. It should come as no surprise that founder Aditya Nandwana has a deep obsession with distortion, shoegaze textures, and immense walls of sound. His latest invention houses two distinct, parallel fuzz circuits. The "Burn" channel delivers the company's own Chemical Burn circuit (a modified Shin-Ei Superfuzz), while the "Churn" channel offers a heavily modified and much more aggressive Big Muff-style circuit.
There's also another layer of magic that happens before the fuzz hits. A switchable short delay can process each channel's dry signal, delayed signal only, or a blend of both. This delay time becomes a living, breathing parameter through two modulation sources: an internal LFO and an envelope follower that responds to your playing dynamics. As per usual, it's built to Animal Factory's high standards, a solid little unit.
The Dirty Mirror is a fantastic exploration of fuzz. Animal Factory has created a device that respects its inspirations while also pushing them into new, uncharted territory full of beautiful distorted textures.
