After Later Audio's Compactor — Stereo VCA Compressor with Sidechain
After Later Audio's Compactor brings clean, analog dynamics processing to your rack. Built around a VCA-based circuit, it handles stereo signals with minimal noise or coloration. The usual suspects are on board: threshold, ratio, makeup gain, plus adjustable attack and release times — or let the automatic mode handle timing for you. Switching between RMS and PEAK detection changes how the circuit responds, either tracking overall signal energy or clamping down on sharp transients.
Its sidechain input gives you further rhythmic possibilities — run a kick through it and your basslines or pads will pump accordingly. Four CV inputs let you modulate attack, release, threshold, and gain from other parts of your system. As a bonus, the module outputs an envelope derived from its own gain reduction. This envelope is available in both positive and inverted flavours for use elsewhere in your patch. A solid choice for taming levels, adding punch to drums, or bringing bass lines forward in a mix.
