Syntonie Combines — Triple Analog Combiner for 2D Shapes, RGB Processing and Curious Video Logic
Syntonie’s Combines is a triple analog combiner for video modular systems. Each of its three channels takes two input signals and derives new signals from the relationship between them: average, difference, minimum, maximum, analog XOR and a mixed output. In practical terms, it is a way to turn two simple sources into new shapes, masks, textures or colour-channel material without reaching for digital processing.
The front panel hints at a classic use case: feed it horizontal and vertical triangle signals, and the outputs describe 2D shapes. But the inputs are not limited to ramps or oscillators — different waveforms, existing video shapes or external video signals can all be combined. The three channels make sense for RGB work, with separate processing for red, green and blue, but they can also be patched into each other for denser and more tangled structures.
Combines is a compact shape-making tool for video synthesis, with enough analog oddness to turn simple signals into livelier, less predictable structures. Feed it the basics, and it will happily complicate the picture :)
Features:
- Triple analog combiner for video modular systems
- Three channels, each combining two input signals
- AVG output: average of both inputs
- DIFF output: difference between both inputs
- MIN output: lower value of both inputs
- MAX output: higher value of both inputs
- XOR output: absolute difference between both inputs
- MIX output: channel-specific mix of three combine functions, scaled to 1V
- Useful for generating 2D shapes from horizontal and vertical triangle signals
- Works with waveforms, 2D shapes and external video signals
- Three channels suited for RGB processing
- Channels can be chained for more complex results
- Can be powered through Eurorack 16-pin connector or DC barrel connector
