Strymon - Volante Magnetic Delay

Multihead stereo delay with three different modes and intuitive usability. The retro sound of legendary classics like Space Echo, Echorec or Echoplex rethought and packed into a handy format. Including Spring Reverb and Sound-On-Sound mode. Rich vintage vibes not only for guitarists!

The Volante approach is based on an extension of the El Capistan pedal and transports the approach of excellent sounding but high maintenance magnetic delay devices into the here and now. Three characterful delay flavors are available:

• Drum Echo: Warm and richly saturated echo sound inspired by the tube-based design of devices like Binson's classic Echorec, which uses a rotating metal drum center wrapped in stainless steel wire.
• Magnetic Echo: Emulates the perfectly imperfect sound of legendary multi-head machines like RE-201, Echoplex, or Stage Echo, guaranteeing a rich, complex, and stable signal when needed via the Spacing control to add a dose of character that came from small inaccuracies between playback heads in the early classics.
• Studio Echo: Produce the rich and saturated sound of professional reel-to-real machines that provided recording studios in the 50s and 60s not only with excellent sound, but could also produce warm, characterful nearly artefact-free delays when used creatively.

Supplemented by a spring reverb vintage algorithm, the four playback heads can be used to create rhythmically accentuated delays as well as the typical atmospheric echo/reverb clusters via individual feedback, panning and level settings. In addition to a Lowcut control, additional parameters such as the Wear- and Mechanics-control are available for fine-tuning, emulating parameters like band-age and playback behaviour in a nuanced way, thus enhancing the sound with even more authenticity. Also on board: the legendary Sound-On-Sound effect from the Roland legends RE-301 and 501.The currently played loop gets relooped  during recording by an additional repro head, but is not limited by the tape length like in Volantes' ancestors.

Stereo inputs and outputs, MIDI via an I/O duo and USB jack, expression pedal (CV control possible) and an analog dry path for a latency-free dry signal complete the picture. Made in the USA. 9V DC power line (minus inside, 300 mA) is included.
