Foldist from Olivella Modular is a Serge style wavefolder with JFET distortion, a decay envelope and some more tricks!
Another wave folder? Yes, but with lots of extras! Foldist combines classic Serge wavefolding with built-in feedback and a VC decay envelope.
The bipolar SYM and unipolar FDBK controls have CV inputs and attenuators that allow you to precisely control your sound. The JFET input stage provides the necessary bite: it distorts incoming signals and even allows you to fold square waves - something you can't really do, but you can here!
What else is there? Let's see - SPICE routes the feedback through a full-wave rectifier to create a rough sound. The VC decay envelope generator is connected to the FOLD CV input for easy shaping. With the PING input you can turn almost any signal into a trigger for the envelope generator - handy!
The Foldist is fully DC-coupled except when the JFET is on, and all CV inputs allow modulation at audio rate (try it out!). So what's the verdict? If you crave turbulent distortion, let the folded waves take you away!
