NIIO analog’s Sequential Delay Gate — 8-Step Sequencer With Two Gates and a Logic Output Which Together Offer a Lot of Different Rythmic options!
The Sequential Delay Gate from NIIO analog is an 8-step sequencer that controls two independent gates with adjustable length. At each step, you choose: trigger the upper gate (U), trigger the lower gate (L), or trigger neither. The upper gate fires immediately when its step is active, while the lower gate includes separate delay and length controls, letting you offset it anywhere from 80ms to 1.6 seconds later, with gate lengths extending up to 3.5 seconds. Both parameters have three selectable time ranges for precise control. This setup makes it simple to create rhythmic patterns where events happen in sequence—trigger something now, then trigger something else a moment later, all from a single sequencer step.
The ALT output adds a third gate that responds to what the other two are doing, with three different modes. OR mode outputs a gate whenever either U or L is active, giving you a combined trigger stream. NOR mode does the opposite—it outputs a gate only when neither U nor L is active, essentially capturing the gaps between your other events. L-TRIG mode outputs a sharp 5ms trigger at the start of each L step, and you can use a back-panel jumper to include or exclude the delayed gate in this output. This makes it easy to double-trigger envelopes or create patterns where one trigger fires immediately and another follows after a delay.
Where this becomes useful: create clocks with intentional gaps by using the NOR output, trigger envelopes while simultaneously gating them with different timing, or build call-and-response patterns between different modules in your system. Patch the U gate to one destination and the L gate to another, then program sequences where they interact at different times. The analog circuit responds instantly, and color-coded LEDs (yellow for U, green for L, orange for ALT) keep everything visible. All in all - a great little timing choreographer!
