Morphor - Echo - Analogue Quad Tap BBD Stereo Delay
- Order number: 240368
Morphor Echo – An analog delay reviving the warm BBD echos of the past.
The Morphor Echo is an analogue stereo delay module that combines the classic warm character of BBD Delays with some modern enhancements to extend its control options. This 20 HP module features 4096-stage BBDs, offering four individual mono tap outputs + a stereo mix output. Tap 4 is also available in Stereo. The delay time ranges from 10 to 2040 ms. There are three distinct panning modes: ping-pong, traverse, and chaos, each with controllable spread, nice!
The Echo module can be synchronized with an external clock, providing options for both quantized and continuous delay adjustments. You can also manually set the delay time using the tap tempo button or control it via CV input. The module includes a built-in feedback control with an external feedback input jack. It also features an inverted feedback option, not commonly found in analog delays. And when would you use negative feedback? For instance – when the inverted delayed signal is mixed with the original input, phase cancellation occurs at certain frequencies. This can create a hollow, comb-filtered sound that adds a distinctive texture to your sound. In some cases, negative feedback can also help prevent the buildup of certain frequencies, resulting in a cleaner overall delay.
Additional features include the dry/wet CV, feedback CV, a phase inversion toggle, and a clock sync input supporting 1 or 24 pulses per quarter note (a.k.a. “PPQN”). The Echo also offers a tempo out function for synchronizing other modules in a setup.
The BBD Echo Delay includes attenuators for all CV inputs, reducing the need for additional attenuators. A clipping indicator provides pre-clipping alerts.
If you're seeking the rich, warm, textured delay sounds reminiscent of the '70s and '80s, the Morphor Echo is a compelling choice that delivers both quality and lots of options for external control.
