Magerit - Laniakea

The Magerit Laniakea is a multi-synthesis oscillator module that packs analog, wavetable, and additive sound sources alongside a modal resonator and stereo reverb. It's built for textural exploration — everything from clean single-oscillator tones to dense eight-voice chord clusters, bowed strings, and frozen reverb drones.

The sound sources include an analog oscillator, eight banks of interpolated wavetables (with the option to load your own via USB-C), and a small additive oscillator for more partial-based timbres. The SHAPE knob morphs through waveforms within a bank, while the ORBITS menu selects between banks and also accesses the resonator section — a 32-mode physical model that simulates plastics, tubes, bells, and strings. The string engine is particularly nice: it responds to the EXCITER input with either a pizzicato pluck or a smooth bowed attack, depending on the knob position. The EXCITER input doubles as a low-pass gate / VCA, so you can shape dynamics with any external envelope or trigger.

The CLUSTER control is where Laniakea gets a lot of its character. Turned clockwise from noon, it stacks up to eight voices in harmonic relationships — 16 chord types are available, from unisons and octaves to extended minor and major voicings. Turn it the other way, and the voices scatter into pitch chaos.

There's also a COLOR knob, which applies a low-pass filter, a wavefolder or even an overdrive. Then, front and center, you get a big 3D-printed "SPACE!" knob — a macro controller you can map to any combination of parameters. To round things off, there's a stereo reverb with a freeze function; crank it fully clockwise and the reverb buffer holds indefinitely, layering new material on top of a sustained drone.

Laniakea is a nice playable sound source for anyone drawn to evolving textures and tonal clusters.
