Light Reft Concrete — A Compact Stereo Sound Shaper with Analog Filters and 4 Digital Drive Engines
Concrete is a compact stereo processor for adding saturation, distortion and filtering to your material. It combines four digital drive engines with a resonant analog filter on each channel, covering diode clipping, sine waveshaping, bit crushing and tube emulation. The two sides can process separate sources, work together on stereo material or run in series, sending the left channel into the right for further processing in mono. It's a focused set of sound-shaping tools, with flexible routing to get more out of each.
The same controls serve all four engines. Drive controls the intensity, while Character adjusts bias, additional gain or bit depth, depending on the selected model. Each filter has a single centre-detented control for low-pass and high-pass filtering, alongside a separate resonance knob. You can also move the filter before or after the drive by pressing shift+bypass — cutting bass before distortion changes what gets driven, while filtering afterwards lets you tame the resulting high-frequency content. The saturation has its own dry/wet balance, so you can mix in some distortion without backing off the filtering. The two central sliders set the output level of each channel; hold Shift and they instead control the input level, letting you adjust how much signal enters each processing chain.
Concrete gives both channels their own controls, with Sync linking them so adjustments on the left also apply to the right. Full MIDI control makes those settings available to a sequencer or DAW, allowing you to automate the drive, sweep the filters or change the processing order as part of a pattern. A Max for Live device also provides access to the deeper compressor and noise-gate settings. Concrete offers a choice of distortion characters, flexible routing and good-sounding analog filters, all in a neat portable little aluminium box.
