Refiner From Half Time Modular — Three-Channel CV Processing Toolkit With Attenuversion, Offsets, Slewing, and Mixing. All-In-One Compact CV-Utility!
Refiner condenses the CV basics—attenuversion, DC offsets, slewing, mixing, and buffered mults—into three independent channels. It’s DC-accurate (V/OCT stays in tune, typically within cents), so you can shape, combine, and distribute control signals without pitch drift.
With Refiner, you can:
- Scale and flip modulation, or add/subtract fixed voltage to land in the sweet spot.
- Add glide/portamento to pitch or smooth out stepped CV.
- Mix sources or fan out a stable, buffered copy to multiple destinations.
- Perform live: flip switches to bypass, mute, or bring in a slow slewed rise/fall.
- Keep an eye on polarity and level via simple red/green LEDs.
Channel A stacks two stages (attenuverter/offset → slew/offset) for deeper shaping; B is a fast attenuverter/offset lane; C swaps between attenuverter and slew with a handy center “off” for performance. Normalled I/O lets you sum between channels and take a second buffered output anywhere it’s needed.
Bonus: Channel C's input normalling to +5V creates a neat feature — in slew mode with nothing patched, switching from off to on makes the output rise from 0V to +5V at whatever rate you've set, then fall back when you switch off. Nice for gradual buildups and fade-outs.
Use it to tidy up wild modulation, dial in musical ranges, and keep complex patches in tune. Take a peek at the signal flow in the manual to understand it deeper — all in all this is a solid CV toolkit for its size!
Features:
- Three-channel CV processing utility in 6HP
- Channel A: Two-stage design with attenuverter/DC offset and slew limiter/DC offset
- Channel B: Attenuverter/DC offset
- Channel C: Attenuverter/slew limiter with off position
- High DC accuracy for V/OCT signals (typically < 2 cents)
- Attenuverter gain: -1.8 to 1.8
- DC offset range: -5V to +5V
- Slew rate: 100V/s to 0.45V/s (linear for musical portamento)
- Non-linear potentiometer response for precision at low levels
- Bypass modes for live performance switching
- Each channel: one input, two buffered outputs
- Automatic mixing via normalling scheme
- Channel C normalled to +5V for voltage reference and manual slewed gate
- Output value LEDs (green/red for positive/negative)
- Rear-mounted calibration trimpots
