Future Sound Systems ENV1 — Dual Cyclical Function Generator with Selectable Shapes, Switchable Pulse Outputs and a Reeeaally Wide Time Range. A Versatile Modulation Workhorse!
The ENV1 takes the Cyclical Function Generator (CFG) from FSS's larger Cric system and brings two of them together in a Eurorack module, side by side. Each CFG handles attack and decay with selectable shapes per stage — linear, exponential, or logarithmic — and three operating modes covering looping, one-shot, and sustained behaviour.
The time range is what gives the ENV1 its character. The stages stretch from kHz audio rates down to several minutes per cycle, which is what lets a single CFG step into so many roles — LFO, envelope, audio oscillator, sub-harmonic generator, or trigger delay. The switchable Pulse output adds another layer, firing an End of Decay trigger for sequential patches or acting as a comparator that turns the slope into a duty-cycled square wave.
A solid pick for anyone wanting a flexible pair of modulation sources that can also moonlight as oscillators, sub-harmonic generators, or trigger delays when the patch calls for it.
Features:
- Two independent Cyclical Function Generators
- Selectable shape per stage — linear, exponential, logarithmic
- Three modes: looping, attack/decay, attack/sustain/decay
- Switchable Pulse output — End of Decay trigger or Comparator square
- CV Depth attenuverters double as fine-tune when unpatched
- Time range from audio rate to multi-minute cycles
- West Coast versatility in a compact dual-channel format
