The Euterpe Itinera is a versatile Eurorack multimode filter module that makes the sonic features of Euterpe Synthesizer Laboratories' renowned Vertice filter bank accessible in a compact form. This fully analog module starts the sound shaping process with an integrated preamplifier and transistor-based distortion. Saturating the input signal at this stage and generating harmonically rich sounds provides a promising basis for the subsequent filter circuit to intensely and characterfully manipulate the sound.
Based on the circuit of the first stage of the Vertice filter bank, the Itinera integrates four filter modes: low pass (LP), band pass (BP), high pass (HP) and notch. These modes allow for flexible sound shaping and open up a wide range of creative applications, especially in conjunction with the aforementioned input saturation stage and the various resonance paths!
The three selectable resonance paths - diode, transistor and Innesco - each offer different tonal characteristics, i.e. individual adjustment of the resonance behavior. This is already more than most filter modules offer, but Itinera goes one step further. The module has two CV-controllable feedback functions, “Formant” and “Vindicta”, which create complex feedback effects and further expand the sound spectrum. With two audio inputs and a total of four CV inputs, the module offers extensive possibilities for creative work and automation of the various parameters via CV control. There is a lot of potential in Itinera, not only as a filter module in a familiar position within a classic subtractive voice, but also to saturate drums, filter entire buses or make effect chains more interesting. We're going to try it all out, see you soon!
