DPW Design AV3 — Dual Attenuverter, Mixer and Comparator
The AV3 combines several useful utility functions. While dual attenuverters form the core of it, DPW Design added a mixer section and comparator output that expand its capabilities beyond that. A nice touch: when inputs A or B are unpatched, they function as +/-5V voltage sources. This makes tasks like converting bipolar LFOs to unipolar signals straightforward — no need for additional offset modules.
The comparator output includes its own volume control, making it equally useful for generating gates from crossed LFOs or processing audio for square wave effects. Its green/red LEDs at each output shows both level and polarity. With over 300kHz of bandwidth, the AV3 stays transparent when mixing or subtracting audio signals — no frequency-dependent phase shifts that will muddy things up. It's one of those modules that can solve multiple patching problems without taking up much of your precious rack space.
Features:
- Dual attenuverter with LED indicators (green/red for polarity)
- Inputs normalled to +5V for use as voltage sources
- Sum output with dedicated attenuverter
- Comparator output (A>B) with volume control
- DC coupled with >300kHz bandwidth
- 50k ohm input impedance, 1k ohm output impedance
- Reverse power protection
