DF Audio Nano U — Desktop Utility Companion for Semi-Modular Setups
If you own a semi-modular synth, you've likely wished for a few basic utilities without committing to a full Eurorack setup. DF Audio's Nano U addresses exactly this — a standalone desktop box that handles signal boosting, envelope following, attenuation, mixing, and CV offset, all powered by a standard 9V guitar pedal supply.
Four channels divide the work. The first two boost line-level signals up to modular range and each includes a switchable envelope follower for converting audio dynamics into CV — the first one with a softer response, the other one is snappier but only works well for higher frequencies above 4kHz. Channels 3 and 4 are DC-coupled attenuators for scaling audio or CV. A hidden CV offset generator on channel 3 outputs +5V when enabled, useful for biasing signals or adding manual voltage (It's enabled by removing the right-hand end cheek and flicking the DIP switch on the PCB). Mix switches let you sum or split signals within each channel pair, and a TRS input on the back accepts stereo audio sources directly.
Nano U is a really useful companion for anyone wanting utility functions alongside their semi-modular gear.
