Clank Toolbox – The Ultra Utility Module.
Clank's Toolbox consolidates multiple utility functions into a single module, delivering several basic processing blocks that are tied together in an interesting way. It combines VCAs, mixers, logic operations and more in and also comes with normalized connections between its sections.
The layout includes two linear VCAs at the top, suitable for both standard amplitude control and audio-rate modulation. Below are two analog/digital mixer sections that provide summing, inverted outputs, AND and NAND logic operations. These mixers handle both control voltage and audio signals, offering flexibility in processing.
At the center, a bidirectional sequential switch features three I/O connections that can function as either inputs or outputs, allowing 2:1 or 1:2 routing configurations controlled by gate signals. The module also includes two flip-flops that divide incoming frequencies by two, useful for creating sub-octaves or clock division.
The bottom section houses two offset/attenuverter channels for precise voltage control, while the left area contains two 3-channel summing blocks with active multiplication. These sections can be used independently or combined through normalization.
There's also a threshold input that controls trigger levels for all logic functions marked with an asterisk. This single parameter affects how the logic operators respond to incoming signals, creating varied results from the same inputs. For example, two different LFOs fed into the mixer inputs will produce entirely different patterns at the logic outputs as you adjust the threshold.
Toolbox eliminates the need to fill your case with multiple small utilities. It's both a practical problem-solver for everyday patching needs and a creative utility toolset. It's the kind of module that quickly becomes essential – not because it's flashy in any way, but because it's genuinely useful in almost every patch. Absolutely solid stuff that deliver as promised!
