Spring Amp III from Benidub — dubby preamp + filter interface to control your spring reverb tanks
For all the spring reverb enthusiasts out there, Benidub now introduces the third iteration of their Spring Amp. It is great for anyone who loves messing about with different spring reverb tanks and this latest version comes with a few new features.
The primary function of the Spring Amp III is to act as an interface between your audio mixer and your reverb tanks. It retains the classic spring reverb preamplifier from before with a 12dB/oct resonant HP/LP filter, great for achieving that vintage dub sound. For a different character, you can simply connect it to another spring tank. To get a better idea of which tanks are compatible please refer to the manual. So what’s new? Firstly, there's a new switchable effect routing feature, allowing you to place the filter before or after the spring tank, thereby providing more control over the final sound. The soft clip circuit adds some nice harmonic saturation to make your sounds oh-so-much richer.
The Spring Amp III also works great as a standalone filter - for example right after an instrument with a line output. Verdict? if you love the sound of spring reverbs and perhaps have a few spring tanks already, this makes for a lovely companion piece!
