ADDAC406 Clock Bender — Clock Shaper for Strange, Shifting Rhythmic Structures, Syncopations and Time-Bending. Accelerates and Decelerates Between BPMs
ADDAC’s Clock Bender is a very unusual rhythm tool for Eurorack — there really isn’t much else quite like it. It takes a steady clock in and outputs two independent clocks that trace a BPM shape you design over a chosen number of beats. That shape might be a ramp from the input tempo up to some multiple of it, a triangle that climbs to a target and falls back, or an inverted ramp falling away — followed by an optional pause where the output rests or holds steady before the cycle repeats.
Because the BPM is being interpolated rather than divided, the pulses are never evenly spaced in the usual way: they stretch, tighten, swing, rush or drag against the main clock. Balance sets where the peak sits, the Left and Right Curve controls bend each leg of the shape from logarithmic through linear to exponential, and a switch lets you loop the whole figure or fire it as a one-shot. The result ranges from subtle syncopation to beautifully odd, almost free-jazz clock structures — still mathematically related to the source, but far from predictable.
Clock manipulation has been done plenty of ways before — dividers, multipliers, swing modules, probabilistic gate processors, ratcheters — but the Clock Bender has found a new territory. Continuously interpolating BPM between two values across a definable number of beats isn't something any other module currently does. It opens up a class of rhythmic patterns that previously required sequencer trickery or DSP tools outside the modular world.
