A simple premise with deep implications. Eight switches, three positions each—that’s the whole idea, and somehow it’s enough to generate patterns that feel like they’re thinking for themselves. The Sequential Logic/Switch could perhaps be described as a "composer of structure". It doesn’t make sound itself, but it decides the flow, the logic, the moment-to-moment movement of your patch — which parts of your patch talk to each other, and when.
Each step routes signals up, center, or down, and that simple choice cascades through both gate outputs and audio/CV switches simultaneously. Two things happen at once: gates fire in patterns determined by your switch positions—short triggers for envelopes or sustained logic signals for longer control. Meanwhile, the switching section routes audio or modulation between three independent paths. Feed three different sequencers through it and suddenly you have melodic variations without programming anything. Patch modulation sources and you're selecting between them step by step.
This is where static patches become arrangements. Swap LFOs per bar. Alternate envelopes. Flip effect sends. Pick between three audio lines without repatching. Eight steps, each choosing one of three lanes, like we mentioned earlier — you're sequencing which things happen and when. The SMOOTH function on the mix output tames those sharp clicks when switching CV sources, a detail that shows someone actually used this thing.
There's no menu diving, no shift functions, no preset recall. Every pattern exists in the physical state of those switches. Flip a few while a sequence runs and watch the entire patch reorganize itself. Pair it with a clock divider and polyrhythms appear naturally. It's immediate, hands-on, and benefits from the kind of experimentation you can only do when everything's right there on the panel. This module is direct, tactile, and much deeper than those eight switches might initially suggest!
