The Klavis Terminal 4 packs an almost unreasonable amount of utility for its size. It's a quad-channel dynamics processor, where each channel can be a VCA, a Low Pass Gate, or a dedicated Envelope Generator, making it a great tool for smaller systems.
The design philosophy here is all about flexibility — the four channels can run independently or be linked into two stereo pairs. The onboard envelopes are a smart compromise for the limited space, offering eight distinct templates and a global time control rather than full ADSR faders. This is paired with a morphable linear-to-logarithmic curve, which provides a significant range of shaping possibilities. It’s all driven by a high-quality digital core, so you get precision and a clean sound without unwanted artifacts.
Other nice details include a zero-crossing function that can be enabled to tame the clicks and pops that can occur when processing harmonically rich waveforms. The inputs are DC-coupled, so you can process control voltages just as easily as audio. Furthermore, any outputs left unpatched are automatically summed together, which can save you from needing a separate mixer for simple subgrouping.
