Instruō lìon is a 6×6 matrix mixer with a pin interface. Each node in the matrix can be assigned a pin to connect two points. Or with an insert cable to connect attenuators, effects or any other units between the input and the output.
Whether for live patching, feedback mixes, summing or as a central interface between sequencers and voices, matrix mixers are so versatile that it is definitely useful to integrate at least one into the modular system. Buchla users are usually used to having two matrices. One for control signals and another for audio signals. Thanks to DC-coupled inputs, Lìon can serve both purposes very well and, thanks to the sockets acting as nodes, allows users to use their own insert creations with, for example, mute switches, attenuators or other controls in addition to the pins and insert cables supplied. The manual contains a nice collection of patch ideas and is warmly recommended. Ten pin cables and two insert cables (black=send, gold=return) are included.
